Question by bjluchion: How to install a chainsaw cylinder/piston kit?
I own a crafsman 42cc, 18 inch gas chainsaw, the cylinder & piston burned out. I am seeking information on how to install a new cylinder/piston kit, before I buy the kit, to access if I am capable of preforming this job, (my first time) Please advise
…also If you live in the Jackson MS area, maybe you can help me with this project.

follow the instructions, above all i can tell you keep things CLEAN, clean clean, and did i mention… keep it clean keep the Dogs away… dog hair once messed up a jet in my carburetor….

use wood blocks if you need to apply pressure NO METAL….

Unless you want to make a living with the chainsaw, go with a 16 inch chain. I have had 3 far. The chains and replacement bar are a better cost in the long run.
Look for a good price and one that has spare parts locally for you. I currently have a Ranger series from Home Depot. Light, easy to cut with and easy to maintain. On the few large cuts I simply cut from each side.

Question by chazmyth: How can you make a fake chainsaw for a halloween costume?
I am making a halloween costume based on the character Ash from the Evil Dead Trilogy (hail to the Bruce, baby!). I have the leather belt straps, shirt, pants, severed hand, metal clamp, lots of fake blood and grey hair spray. However, I am having trouble finding a fake chainsaw that isn’t cheesy looking and not flat. I had an idea for the saw part, using cardboard and metallic paint as well as a cork screw handle for activator. Does anyone have any suggestions for the body of the chainsaw? Thanks in advance.

my dad bought me a fake chainsaw when i was a younger. it wasnt too cheesy at all. it looked pretty real to me anyways. lol. he works at ACO hardware so maybe he got it there? im not sure

anyways idk what to use for the body. sry!

Loosen the two bolts on the bar side cover, pull bar out to set tension on chain by turning set screw behind and in line with bar. Sawdust may plug the hole and hide the screw head. Quarter inch slack on cold chain, half inch on warm chain. Before you tighten the chain, remove the cover completely to clean all saw dust out as the chain oiler may get clogged. Support the bar tip, or everything will pry out when you remove the cover bolts. Take a picture with your phone, for proper replacement, then remove plate, bar, bar adjuster, and chain. Clean all galleries , look at bar adjuster, any wear or bend get a new one, or adjustment will be limited, and reassemble. Lube the sprocket on the bar tip, but clean the holes first. File the chain with a guide and round file set for the proper size.

Question by Dreamlander: How to cut down a tree without a chainsaw?
I have this tree in the back of my yard, that is old and dry. It is horrible and I want to cut it down but I don’t have a chainsaw. It is not really large, I would say medium sized and the diameter of the tree is about 2 feet. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is it illegal to carry a chainsaw even if the blade is removed? Because for Halloween I going to be the Chainsaw Majini from Resident Evil Five. I was going to have a haunted house thing and I was going to pop out of a closet they passed. I already have the chainsaw.
