What Are Hidden Cameras

What are hidden cameras? They are often small miniature cameras and camera devices developed for surveillance and hidden from the general public. They are often camouflaged or disguised as other common objects so the people around do not know their actions are being observed. The hidden camera can record events uninterrupted in its field of vision using software for the purpose, and the images can be viewed with the use of a computer or television monitor.

Hidden cameras are used nowadays mainly for security purposes. Businesses or establishments that usually employ these cameras are banks, airports, department stores, hospitals, and others. The cameras are constantly monitored by some office personnel. Connected to the television monitor in a security cabin or office, there can often be more than one or two cameras connected to some screen. This network forms what we call a CCTV network. This security device has become very popular, as it could cover several areas of the place being observed all at the same time.

Another important use of the hidden camera is in the home. Called spy or nanny cams, they are often installed in unseen or inconspicuous places, where they cannot be easily discovered. They can be used to watch over a child’s tutor or nanny, or a caretaker for an older person. This has proven to be a fine method for many people in ensuring their loved ones are not being maltreated, and are safe.

Some people think that spy cameras can invade their and others’ privacy, and this can be true so often. Some think they are harmless fun. When used in hotel rooms and even bathrooms they’re indeed an invasion of privacy! When employed in crime prevention and for surveillance purposes, however, these cameras are more than a good watchdog and very helpful, as well as affordable.
