Selling Your Property: Clearing Clutter
The business of real estate is becomingmuch more refined in its appreciation of what sells. In fact, there are actually people who have made a business of just this study and the task of staging a property for sale.
There is a knack to being able to properly “stage” a property these days. But, whilst it is a very useful effort, it is not one that takes a vast amount of money. It’s basically a matter of giving a face lift to your current environs.
The key is to examine your property not through your own eyes, but through the eyes of a potential buyer. Look at the property as though you’ve never been there or seen it before in your life.
Clear out excess furniture and accessories from the inside of your property as far as possible. If an item of furniture is too big for the room you need to place it in storage, have a garage sale, or give it to a favorite charity.
The same goes for oversized stuffed animals, decorations, and other items that you may have bought over the years. Every item that takes up space needs to be weighed up, and if it’s not essential, you’ll want to remove them from the home.
Nothing is more powerful at making a room or house seem bigger than removing clutter. It will seem immeasurably more roomy without all of your extra things in the way.
You should pay extra attention to keeping doorways and hallways clear. Not only will this make a potential buyer feel that they will be getting a more spacious property, and can easier picture their own items inside of it.
Work your way through the house and remove all unnecessary items all of the horizontal surfaces, kitchen counters, and bathroom countertops.
This means that you will not be leaving around any newspapers or magazines, knick knacks, or other various items to add to a cluttered appearance in your home. You need to either pack them or get rid of them in some other way.
