The death of paper books?
The Internet has recently become a breeding ground for speculation and forecasts of the death of print, paper books as several major book publishers such as Amazon, began offering electronic reading devices that can replace physical books, magazines and newspapers in our lives.
Several years ago, Bill Gates announced the change would come in the next five years, from his perspective in 2007 …
"Reading is to go completely online. We believe that as the small form factor, the screen has been good enough. Why is better reading Online? It is a day, you can browse, you can follow links … "
The technophobes among us are busy working to accelerate the demise of regular books and will cover all electronic readers of any company can produce as the second coming of literacy. But his biggest obstacle is deeply ingrained in our memories of snuggling by a warm fire and read a book that took us to faraway places like turning the pages.
Such a reading experience not duplicated in electronic devices, regardless of their ease of use. Neither pre-set memories out in pajamas to pick up the newspaper sitting on the sidewalk so our father could drink their morning coffee and read the headlines. In many of our memories we can still see the distribution of comics Sunday with our brothers or objections about the magazine section, while munching on mom's lots of hot cinnamon buns.
Books and newspapers part of our heritage, but some realities of the current environment will force a dramatic change that will never get lost. It is well known that all chemical change paper and inks used for printing, along with several other processes needed to produce paper for books, are having a negative impact on the environment. This has become the mantra that foster effective for electronic readers.
Our youth live in an electronic environment almost entirely … full of iPhones and handheld devices that will do almost anything that the user can dream.
Digital cameras, handheld digital video cameras, tape recorders small downloading music and movies have become standard elements for any old enough to read. While most of us were working and building families, our children were driving this new era of electronic devices furious joy.
This focus on constant electronic connection is actually the creation of a new marketing environment that will make major changes throughout the commercial publishing industry in all aspects, including music, collection information, videos and books.
There will be a stop motion driven by the need for more information and faster downloads of our youth.
Along with the rising costs of all other commodities that define our lives, the costs of publication of books has also increased. The major competition the Internet with the ease of creating and delivering products to customers, will more than likely that eventually break down the traditional publishing houses without getting on the electronic car before it is too late.
Due to its vast Internet access and pioneers pushing the envelope with their innovative products, readers Hand make a dent in the publishing industry.
Improvements will prosper until the electronic tablets and readers become a must-have standard products in the same way cell phones made normal phones have been a staple in households for decades.
At this time, encyclopedias are almost a distant memory, because a simple click of a mouse can bring fresh content in seconds for the browser. The distance and no matter the nationality. If the information is available, anyone can find it with the smart search. When was the last time one of your children use an encyclopedia to research a role for term?
The data we find encyclopedias was at least a year or two old. Now, because Internet browsers and fast, we can obtain information that can be minutes old, instead of years, and watch videos from sites around the world as they happen. This is not the world we grew up in.
There a book of paper over 50 years of age, "Fahrenheit 451", which told the story of a campaign sponsored by the government to burn all the books households. People began to flee into the forest and the recitation of the contents of memory books for literature who do not want to disappear. It was a statement powerful author, Ray Bradbury, about how television is going to destroy interest in reading literature.
Will electronic readers to kill the book industry? Possibly .. but I doubt they ever going to happen. The most likely continue to evolve into something that meets the needs of its customers. That is the form of trade and marketing works … and I can not stop evolution.
