Any interior designer will tell you to use mirrors to decorate a really small place.  Mirrors can give you the sense that there is a greater amount of space than there really is in a really small place.  Because mirrors reflect light, they make a room brighter and open up that place.  Mirroring an entire wall also helps to give the illusion of double the space because of the room’s reflection.  Mirrors can help in a room that is really dark.  The darker the area, the smaller the space feels.  This is a fantastic and affordable way to really open up a tiny apartment or small room in your house.

Big mirrors are the most effective to use when giving the illusion of a bigger space.  A large mirror that covers a wide space of wall is a smart way to go.  If you do not want to hang a big mirror on an apartment wall, try slightly smaller ones side-by-side for the same effect.  You can even go with a gallery grouping of little mirrors to try and give a similar illusion.

Mirrors can look great in a small kitchen.  If you have a tiny kitchen, it will benefit from you hanging mirrors.  You can be artistic and place mirrors behind your stove or even on your cabinet doors.  Little mirror tiles placed on cabinet doors will create a special and artistic look.  You can also hang some smaller mirrors wherever you have good counter light.  This is a prime area to take advantage of what light reflection can do for a room.

To make a wall gallery, you will want to choose from a variety of mirror shapes and sizes.  You can select from contemporary  mirrors, modern mirrors, or even old mirrors to fit your taste and style.  Buy various shapes and sizes, but try to keep them tied together with a common thread.  Antique or vintage mirrors are a nice way to go if your place is eclectic or shabby-chic.  If your home is more streamlined and modern, you can go with contemporary mirrors and modern mirrors.

Mirrors are the most versatile decorative items you can buy.  They are both functional and useful when it comes to building a certain feel in your home.  You can use them to make the sense of more light in a dark room, and make a small apartment feel so much bigger.  The best thing about using mirrors in your home is the cost.  You can find amazing, beautiful mirrors at yard sales, garage sales, and thrift stores for pennies.  It is the most affordable way to really create something special in your space.
