in your what is the best chainsaw and why;which ones should I stay away from and why?

Unless you want to make a living with the chainsaw, go with a 16 inch chain. I have had 3 far. The chains and replacement bar are a better cost in the long run.
Look for a good price and one that has spare parts locally for you. I currently have a Ranger series from Home Depot. Light, easy to cut with and easy to maintain. On the few large cuts I simply cut from each side.
