What color to paint walls (that goes with Burgundy)?

Question by (?????): What color to paint walls (that goes with Burgundy)?
I’m allowed to paint my living room, but i can’t do dark colors. So i need help on what goes best with Burgundy (i have burgundy curtains, flowers, big vase at door entrance with flowers inside, burgundy futon with dark brown wood side arms, burgundy carpeting at doors, burgundy wood coffee table, black steel entrance doors, white closet doors and my floor is a light hardwood floating floor + the baseboards are the same as the floor and my tv stand/book shelfs/computer stand is all the same color as the floors “light hardwood”) I love the color burgundy so much but i am not allowed to paint my walls this color as the landlord said it’s too dark. So i am wondering what other color will go well with it? considering all my furniture colors and my floors. I was thinking this color but i don’t know? http://www.craigandrose.com/brands/1829/detail?colour=VENETIANRE Please help! i don’t want anything like blue/green. I want natural colors like brown etc. Thanks

I would go w. a linen white from Benjamin Moore- it is a deeper shade of cream w. a golden cast to it that would look good w. your burgundy favourite. Check the paint sample cards next to your colour at home before you decide.

google ( sherwin williams color visualizer ) you will like it and its fun.
when you get to the site click on a room on the left side of the screen.
    And then paint your room.

well i have black furniture with my burgundy walls but i also have alot of black and white paintings on the wall. so maybe an off white or a light gray of some sort for your wall.

  • modraniht:

I suggest a mustard yellow for at least 2 walls. The white on the closet doors has to go. Perhaps black to match the entrance doors.

Your landlord will be very pleased if you paint your walls Sherwin Williams #6106 Kilim Beige or #6107 Nomadic Desert. (I would prefer the 6107). It will carry the burgundy beautifully & isn’t too dark for your landlord. If you don’t like this, stay with a mid-tone. If you go any lighter than that your burgundy will wash out your walls.

  • seamstress:

I would go with one of two colors: a silvery gray or a tan color that resembles way too much cream in a cup of coffee.

The gray will be a wonderful compliment to the burgundy and the black accents in the room.
The coffee will pull out the wood tones in the woods of the furniture and the floors.

    Take your pick.
