Wireless Home Theater - Is Wireless Worth The Trouble?
Ugly and unsightly speaker cables adorning your home theater showpiece…it’s enough to want to make you tear your hair out! What can you do? Is there an alternative?
The prominence of wireless home theater within people's entertainment show pieces is likely to escalate over the next 12 months.
There has been a gradual leaning towards wireless systems with the improvement in technology. The prospect of doing without the sight of ugly speaker cables is mouth watering and a wireless home theater set up is just the ticket.
Wireless is yet to dominate the home theater landscape for two reasons. They are price but more so quality. As is normally the case with newer technology price is generally high. Take the case of plasma and LCD TVs.
So what do you look for when shopping wireless home theater? This depends on your budget but systems are available for as low as $200 or less. We’re not sure about the quality in fact, quality is another reason why wireless home theater is yet to challenge it’s cabled relative. However, the quality argument is quickly diminishing as year goes by.
There's a suggestion that because wireless home theater is improving so quickly, it may pay to stick with a price range at the middle level, between $400-$1000 and then upgrade when appropriate.
Sony DAV-LF1 System
It comes highly regarded with home theater circles.
The use of wireless rear speakers takes care of those unsightly cables and it's excellent and appealing design are a hit with prospective buyers.
Sound quality isn't compromised because of style. One drawback with this system however is it's infrared line of sight set up which can be irritating if your room has plenty of traffic walking across it so keep this in mind when looking at the DAV-LF1 system.
Panasonic SC-PT950
Probably not as appealing in looks as the Sony DAV-LF1 unit however, when talking about wireless home theater, it certainly doesn't sacrifice in sound quality. It comes with the fashionable tower speaker set up as well as a wireless rear speaker.
It can also expand to multi room wireless audio however, for home theater purposes, this is entirely optional as you don't want to be taking away from your main showpiece.
